Biography
I have been involved in MMA in the UK from virtually its inception and have seen it rise from being a small underground sport, to it achieving near mainstream status both at home and abroad. And I have fought and trained with some of the best names in the UK and European scene over the last ten years and have fought from small hall shows to internationally known arenas, having worked my way up the ladder diligently in both the MMA and Submission Grappling circuit.
I have an extensive MMA amateur, professional and submission grappling record here in Britain. This has certainly helped me in my career and outlook as a referee as I have gained a lot of respect from fighters purely for the fact that I have been, and currently do still compete in MMA and submission grappling competition.
I feel I have paid my dues having fought on the circuit when it was still growing and never turned down a challenge. I took on some of the biggest names in the UK and European circuit over the past 8. I have been featured on Television in the UK, Europe and USA and have even been considered for some of the world leading events before I decided to concentrate full time on my Refereeing in 2008.
Due to my experience and skills I consider myself a true Mixed Martial Artist having travelled around Europe to either train or compete in MMA and Submission Grappling. This has vastly complemented my skill set and I feel comfortable both practising and teaching all the major MMA disciplines including BJJ, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo and Muay Thai.
I currently teach MMA and submission grappling to an array of students in Birmingham, England, and I am currently guiding several young promising fighters who are starting their MMA careers on the amateur and professional circuit. I feel my experience and knowledge of both the sport and the scene is beneficial for casual students to those who wish to have a career in MMA, and the links I have established with promoters and key individuals in the scene both at home and abroad will only benefit those within my inner circle.
As mentioned previously I also promote my own event AMMA which is solely geared and set up to give the amateur fighters in this sport a safe and recognised platform to showcase their skills. Already several of our Champions have moved on to bigger and better things in the scene, whilst we attract the cream of amateur talent from around the country and are respected by fighters, fans and media alike.
In short my involvement in MMA has spanned through from fan to competitor, from promoter to coach, from referee to leading official. My varied and long existence in the sport has seen me gain the respect and understanding of my peers (as well as those outside of the sport). I am well versed and exceptionally qualified and feel I can take any role in this sport and would be an asset to any company in this fast changing, global industry.
